Ennel Park, Dublin

Ennel Park is a contemporary residential extension and refurbishment in Donaghmede, Dublin. Conceived to strengthen the relationship between a familiar suburban dwelling, its garden and everyday patterns of family life. The proposal retains the clarity of the original pitched-roof form while introducing a calm, low-profile addition whose horizontal expression creates a measured contrast with the existing house.

At the front, a carefully composed entrance and projecting bay establish a more legible threshold, using light render, tactile timber and pale stone detailing to add warmth and depth. To the rear, the extension opens into a generous kitchen, dining and living space, organised around a sociable island and long views to the garden. Full-height glazed openings extend domestic life onto a sheltered terrace, while rooflights bring diffuse daylight deep into the plan.
Material continuity and restrained proportions allow the new work to read as a considered evolution rather than an autonomous object. The scheme balances contemporary spatial generosity with the scale and character of its residential setting.
